Laura & JP's Jonnymoon - Day 3

It's late, I'm tired, and I need to pack for our 5 day road trip for tomorrow, so I will keep it quick. Photos from today are at: http://picasaweb.google.com/australialiterally/LauraJPSJonnymoonDay3

The day had a few good highlights. We went down to Cottesloe Beach. It was much calmer than the previous two days. Then headed to Freo and did some walking around the City. I ran into 3 crazy people .... and yes .... very crazy. Anyhow, the pictures say it all, highlights include Jimmy the Seagull, The Lost Croc, Fattest Pigeon EVER!, crazy guy 1 from Cottesloe, Bikini Girls massage, and Laura and Jon with their asian immigrant friends.

See you in a 5 days!

Laura & JP's Australian Honeymoon Adventure ....

AND JON!!!!!!

Well the guests have officially arrived. My sister Laura and her husband JP flew in to Perth this afternoon to begin there 1 month Australian Honeymoon Adventure. They both looked very well considering the 22+ hours of flight time. My roommate was kind enough to lend his other car, so I met them at the Perth Airport. After a few accidental detours (to South Perth ... woops), we made it back to my place. First thing is first, we have to get to the beach. We ended up at City Beach as I had several friends down there. It was a bit windy and choppy, but not the worst I've seen it. Laura and JP were apprehensive about going in the water.... maybe tomorrow. Then back to my place where they napped for an hour, then dinner, then off to Cottesloe to catch the sunset, and have a peak at the Sunday Sessions.

They have now tucked into bed at 9pm, which isn't bad.... it'll take a couple days at least to get over the jet lag. I do find it quite hilarious that my sister is spending the first official night of her honeymoon sleeping in her little brother's bed. I bet she never would have imagined that one. As for me .... I'm left with the swag (thanks Mark and Holly!)

I think the plan for tomorrow is beaches, beaches and more beaches. Whether is still going to be quite cool. It will only be 25 Celsius tomorrow. Today was a chilly 22. Brrrrr...

Alright, JP say "Cheese", and Laura, you scream!

JP already starting his job as a Christmas Card photographer ... he's planning to pay for the trip doing this!

Not a bad sunset .... a little cloudy though

You gotta love Australia .... they give out free parking!!!! They tried to make people pay for parking at the beaches, but that went against the Australian Way of Life.

Evening at Swanny and Cott

After a tough day that involved, golfing, biking, swimming, and biking, I decided to go on another bike trip down to the coast for sunset at Swanbourne and Cottesloe beaches. It amazes me that it just keeps getting more and more spectacular each day. What will tomorrow bring ... oh yah .... work. Photos below (for more click here):

It's beginning to look a lot like summer

Another lazy Saturday spent at the beach with friends. The temperature got up to 29 C today, although it seemed a bit cooler at the beach with the breeze. I decided to jump in fully for the first time. The water is still a bit chilly, but once you are in it is amazing. It's hard to come out! But then the Shark Patrol flies overhead and you remember about all the hidden dangers. Eeek!

The highlight of the day was when I headed off to go to the toilet .... 3 guys just start yelling and cursing at me, asking where I'm from. I thought it was due to my blinding white skin. But nope, it was due to the NZ Rugby shirt I had on. Turned out they were Kiwis, and were very ashamed of the team. When they found out I was from BC, a beer was in my hand (one of them spent 6 months at whistler). Then I joined in some rugby tossing and watched as one of them made a pass at every girl on the beach. It was fun times. I'll keep you updated if I run into them again!

I don't see any sharks ..... Shark Patrol must be doing their job

Jacques

Me and Jacque flashing the "W" for West Coast...... that's what they do here ..... literally!

Well, I headed out for about 2 hours on the bike today. The pedal has remained on.... for now. With incident #1 now behind me, I decided it was time to officially name my bike. I decided to name him after the previous owner ... Jacques. However there is one condition. I can only speak French to him "Por Favor". I'm loving Jacques. I can't believe how fast you can get around on a road bike with such little effort. I'm not sure why I was always wasting away on a mountain bike. What a waste.

While heading off for a bike ride earlier in the day, I came across a mobile phone (that's what they call cell phones) up near the curb in the street. I picked it up went through the address book, and snooped around for a bit. Found out the owners name was Max. Then figured the best person to call was "Linda - Mum". She was very happy to get a call from her "son". He had lost the phone a couple days ago when he headed off for a trip. Their home was exactly where I found the phone. It was lucky that batteries weren't dead yet.

The only guy who could get on his board

I biked down to Cott Beach in the afternoon and spent a lazy couple hours there. Took some photos of surfers. After looking through the photos, it seems like there is one guy who just keeps repeating. There were about 30 surfers out there, but I guess only the good ones actually get up on their boards.

I headed back in the evening to catch another sunset. Life is tough.

I like winter here....

Well my 2nd day here started off pretty lame with continuous showers for the morning. But the afternoon was another story. The sun came out in full force!!!! I met up with a couple of Uvic friends Amy and Matt, and then we just hung out on Cottesloe Beach and watched the sun go down. I think I could get used to this.
Highlight of the day: When a crazy Australian woman randomly dropped her dog off in the lap of a fellow Canadian at a pub. She didn't want it to cramp her style as she hit on men. Needless to say, it was very awkward, and I was scared to take a photo cause I thought she might attack. After holding the dog for 10 minutes, the guy put it down, and she came racing over, telling him that the dog can't go on the ground. Crazy.
